ERP and Product Lifecycle Management Integration – a Beautiful Friendship

Kenandy and Arena Solutions are shedding a bit more light on the partnership they announced this summer.

To recap, each company is built natively on the cloud, and each has demonstrated success bringing the cloud’s ease of use, flexibility, scalability, and real-time capabilities to their respective domains: Arena in product lifecycle management, Kenandy in core business processes such as order-to-cash, TPM, planning, procurement and production, and global financials.  (Wanna cut to the chase? Arena supports a design for manufacturing approach that requires coordination between the product lifecycle management system and the ERP system. The PLM system facilitates product design through bill of materials change management and supply chain collaboration on design, while the ERP system serves as the execution foundation for manufacturing.  Via this integration, design and manufacturing teams work with the same product data and communicate effectively, optimizing the handoff between them.

For proof of concept, look no further than Primus Power. Primus Power delivers distributed, cost-effective energy storage for improving electric stability and security.  Primus was already using Arena Solutions PLM for its own groundbreaking design and engineering activities when it integrated Kenandy. That was the start of a beautiful friendship (so to speak).

For example, when Primus Power engineers now implement a product idea or improvement in the PLM system, within minutes the new part number is automatically generated in Kenandy. Instantly, people throughout the company can find that part, view its pricing history, supply history, and so on.  Also, because Kenandy is built on the Salesforce1 platform, Primus Power can use powerful Salesforce tools to rapidly configure functionality for its specific business needs.

The partnership offers many other powerful benefits, such as:

  • Faster time to market
  • Increased visibility from early design through manufacturing
  • Real-time synchronization of product data, reducing errors and speeding time to production
  • Improved communication and cooperation across departments, with everyone working from the same “single source of truth”
  • Support for rapid growth

If any of this sounds like it’s worth exploring, you can get more details – and your questions answered – at an upcoming joint Arena Solutions/Kenandy Webinar.

Perhaps it’ll be the start of a beautiful friendship for you, too.
